COMMUNITY FOUNDATION FOR NORTHERN VIRGINIA

The Community Foundation for Northern Virginia is a grant-making and endowment-building organization in Northern Virginia. In 2013, they awarded over $2 million in grants to nonprofits, schools and faith-based institutions. The Community Foundation for Northern Virginia also commissions and publishes data and research on critical community needs.

The DC Bar Foundation is dedicated to providing individuals in Washington, D.C. with equal access to the justice system by supporting legal representation for the vulnerable and disadvantaged in the District. The organization provides grants to organizations like Legal Aid that provide affordable civil legal services to low-income individuals. In addition, the organization runs a loan repayment program that allows young lawyers burdened with student debt to pursue careers in poverty law.

The DC Bar Foundation will continue into the second year of a two-year STRATEGIC PLANNING project to help them reevaluate their funding and programs and increase their visibility.

DCTV is a membership-based, nonprofit, public access television network. Since 1988, DCTV has provided DC residents the opportunity to create and telecast their own shows on cable television, ensuring the presence of diverse cultural groups and ideas traditionally unheard or under-represented in the media.

The recently formed Montgomery County Food Security Collaborative is a collaboration of nonprofits working together to significantly reduce hunger in Montgomery County by 2020 by redistributing fresh, perishable food and increasing collaboration among businesses, nonprofits, food providers, and families in need for this purpose.

The National Cherry Blossom Festival is an annual event that attracts over 1.5 million attendees to Washington, DC each year. The Festival is an annual celebration of the gift of 3,000 cherry trees from Japan in 1912.
