Join us in Honoring Jerry Sorkin with a Gift to Strengthen Nonprofits

“The best way to honor Jerry Sorkin’s legacy is to extend his mentorship to a future generation of leaders, in essence, to formalize the ‘Jerry Sorkin University’ to train nonprofit board members.” Tom Monahan, former Chairman and CEO, CEB

The Jerry Sorkin Center for Nonprofit Governance was established in honor of Jerry Sorkin, a former staff member at CEB, now Gartner. During his career at CEB, Jerry’s passion for nonprofit work and board service led him to develop a nonprofit board-training program for CEB staff members interested in board service. Jerry impacted many individual lives, as well as a wide range of nonprofit organizations and leaders.

After his death in 2016, Jerry’s colleagues at CEB decided to honor his legacy by extending his mentorship to a future generation of leaders through the Sorkin Center, where his training and passion for nonprofit boards will live on. CEB selected Compass as the home for the Sorkin Center.

The Sorkin Center will work in conjunction with Compass’ On Board program, matching business professionals onto nonprofit boards and providing a unique board-training program to those professionals and their fellow board members. Trainings through the Sorkin Center will ensure board members understand their role in providing governance, strategic guidance and resources to the nonprofit on whose board they sit.
