Micro Project Volunteer Application

Micro Projects

Micro Projects are only offered in Washington, D.C. at this time. Micro Projects start mid-January and run through May. Teams are comprised of one Project Leader and three to four team members.

Partner Business Schools

Compass works closely with the graduate business school clubs of Chicago, Columbia, Cornell, Darden, Duke, Georgetown, Harvard, Michigan, MIT, Northwestern, NYU, Stanford, Texas, Tuck, UC Berkeley, UNC Chapel Hill, Wharton, and Yale to recruit Project Leaders and Team Members.

Volunteer Roles

Applicants indicate interest in serving as a Project Leader or a Team Member in the application.

Project Leaders

Compass Project Leaders work closely with the nonprofit clients to determine project scope and with the volunteers to guide the work plan. Micro Project Leaders should have an MBA, a relevant graduate degree such as an MPP/MPA, or substantial consulting or nonprofit experience. Preference is given to graduates of our partner business schools. Project Leaders typically spend three to five hours per week on project work. Project Leader applicants who are new to Compass may be contacted for a brief phone interview.

Team MembersĀ 

Team members typically spend two to three hours per week on projects. Applicants must have at least one full year of post-undergraduate work experience and current graduate students should not apply. Preference is given to applicants with an MBA, a relevant graduate degree such as an MPP/MPA, consulting or nonprofit experience, and attorneys.
