As CEO of the Petey Greene Program, Jeffrey Abramowitz leads with heart and urgency. But even seasoned leaders need space to think. When Compass Pro Bono started the new Coaching Through Uncertainty program, he jumped at the opportunity and signed on.
“There aren’t many places where a nonprofit CEO can get real support from someone who’s lived it,” Jeffrey says.
Through one-on-one coaching, Jeffrey found a rare kind of support: a space to reflect, reframe, and grow. For example, one small shift, shortening meetings to create time for follow-up and reflection, boosted his efficiency and focus. But the impact went deeper.
“It’s been invaluable. I block an hour after each session just to absorb what I learned and apply it. I’m a better CEO because of it.”
With so much shifting in the nonprofit world, and cash flow challenges, human resource management and organizational growth to juggle, Jeffrey says having a trusted sounding board has made all the difference.
“That kind of support is especially vital right now. Instead of dwelling on challenges, we’re figuring out how we can leverage these changes to our benefit, how to turn lemons into lemonade.”
