How it works

Application

Provide a brief overview of the social issues you care about, your work and lived experiences, time availability, donation comfort level, and meeting preferences

Interview

We interview you to better understand your goals for joining a nonprofit board and the unique assets that you bring to an organization as a board member

Training

Participate in our proprietary trainings to learn what nonprofit board service is really like, and learn the fundamentals of nonprofit governance, finance, and fundraising.

Match

We match you with a local nonprofit working on issues that matter to you, and that is looking for a board candidate with your experience and expertise. Then, it’s up to you. Get to know the nonprofit and decide whether you want to join their board.

Board Term Commences

Once you receive and accept a formal invitation to join the Board, your term begins. Although our matching job is done, we are here to support you and your nonprofit going forward, through our many other programs.

Application Specifics

On Board applications are accepted on a rolling basis with matches made in three cycles throughout the year. If a great match is not available, we will keep working to find you a match for up to 12 months.
