Amy Cress is the Executive Director of Compass Pro Bono in the Greater Washington area, a role she has held since 2020. She is dedicated to strengthening the nonprofit sector by supporting nonprofit leaders as they tackle complex organizational challenges. Her work focuses on increasing Compass’s presence and influence across the region, cultivating relationships with corporate and philanthropic partners, and connecting business professionals with mission-driven organizations through high-impact pro bono consulting projects and nonprofit board service.
Amy brings 30 years of strategic leadership, brand building, and business development experience to Compass Pro Bono. Amy’s connection with Compass Pro Bono began when she volunteered on a project for Easterseals DC MD VA in 2013-2014. After the project concluded, she joined Easterseals as Senior Director of Marketing and Communications, a role she held for six years before joining Compass Pro Bono’s staff.
Before her nonprofit work, Amy launched her career in advertising with the Starcom MediaVest Group, where she worked with major brands like Disney, Allstate, and Procter & Gamble. Her accomplishments earned her two Cannes Gold Lions and Media Plan of the Year for her work with Nintendo of America.
Amy received her BBA from the Ross School of Business and her MBA from the Kellogg School of Management.
Outside of work, Amy is a mom of twins, an avid traveler, and a student of culinary arts.
