Why did Golub Capital and Compass Pro Bono form this network?
This collaboration was born from a shared mission: connecting passionate leaders with expertise in social impact to nonprofits to help strengthen the social sector. By combining Golub Capital’s long-standing philanthropic vision with Compass Pro Bono’s high-touch approach to skilled volunteer service, we are forging lasting ties between local nonprofits and local business professionals to empower thriving, equitable, resilient communities.
Who are Board Fellows?
The Golub Capital Nonprofit Board Fellows Program develops the next generation of nonprofit board leaders. In partnership with leading business schools, the program prepares MBA candidates through classroom learning and real-world board engagements, where they work alongside nonprofit boards and senior leaders.
As alumni, they bring strategic leadership and governance experience into every engagement, uniquely positioned to help nonprofits navigate complexity and drive long-term change.
Who can join the Network?
All Board Fellow alumni from network and affiliate schools are invited to join the network. See list of schools in ecosystem below. There is no fee to join the network.

All Board Fellows and Board Fellow alums are eligible to join.
What types of opportunities are available?

How do I get matched to Board Positions or Projects?
We take a high-touch approach to matching highly-skilled volunteers with board roles. By aligning experience, expertise and mission interests with the specific needs of local nonprofits, we ensure each Fellow’s service creates a meaningful, lasting impact.
What locations is the Network operating in?
We are building a global network that operates virtually and in-person. In 2026, we will be in person in Washington D.C., Philadelphia, Chicago, Minneapolis-St. Paul, and New York City.
We plan to operate in-person in Detroit/Ann Arbor, Los Angeles, Bay Area, Pittsburgh, Charlottesville, Austin/Houston/Dallas, and New Haven in the near future.
