Beverly Ross, DC Program Director, joined Compass Pro Bono in June 2023 and has quickly become a trusted leader within Washington, DC’s nonprofit ecosystem. In her role, she oversees recruitment, selection, and onboarding for nonprofit clients and volunteers across Compass’s On Track consulting engagements, while also serving as a key ambassador for Compass’s full suite of programs.
Since joining Compass, Beverly has played a pivotal role in shaping the organization’s evolution. She originated the “On Track” program name—helping reframe Compass’s service offerings—and contributed to early efforts to clarify service line descriptions, improving scoping conversations and internal alignment. She has also expanded Compass’s volunteer pipeline by cultivating new partner relationships and increasing visibility through high-impact speaking engagements.
Beverly’s leadership extends beyond external engagement. She has supported internal process improvements, identified reporting efficiencies, and helped curate a volunteer team that earned the President’s Cup Award of Excellence for outstanding service to a nonprofit organization.
Beverly’s journey to Compass began as a volunteer following a distinguished corporate career. After supporting a nonprofit housing organization through her first Compass engagement, she realized how deeply aligned the work was with her passions, a realization that ultimately led her to join the Compass staff.
Prior to Compass, Beverly spent more than 20 years at Freddie Mac, where she led strategy development, implementation, and change initiatives across financial programs in the secondary mortgage market. She brings extensive nonprofit experience as a volunteer consultant, board member, and mentor, and currently serves on the Executive Board of Van Ness Main Street in Washington, DC.
Beverly holds an MA in Economics from the University of Texas at Austin and a BA in Economics from Howard University. Outside of work, she enjoys staying active, connected, and engaged in the communities she cares about.
