“Participating in a Compass Pro Bono consulting project has been an incredibly rewarding experience, both professionally and personally. Working with Wholesome Riches to develop a strategy for future corporate donors allowed me to leverage my skills in project management and strategic planning for a cause that has a direct impact on our community. The collaboration not only strengthened my ability to adapt and apply business principles in a non-profit context but also deepened my understanding of the unique challenges these organizations face. This experience has enhanced my professional growth by providing a meaningful way to contribute to societal betterment while honing my leadership and consulting abilities.“
Concetta Della Vecchia
“The experience I have had working with Compass the last two years has been incredible. The volunteers they have pulled together for us have brought such valuable insight and perspective to our projects and have been so helpful in aiding us in decision making and processes that we are implementing to help drive our organization into the future!”
Valerie Lockhart
“Through Compass, our organization received thoughtful, practical recommendations to improve our corporate engagement, volunteer programs, and fundraising events. This support will empower our organization to generate more revenue and build a strong, diverse talent pipeline for our Board and Associate Board.“
Yani Mason Ed.D.
“Our volunteer Compass team was highly competent, communicative and passionate about the work they were doing for us. The project managers were professional, communicative, helpful and easy to work with. They came to visit the site and had multiple meetings with myself (executive director) and our board. The result of the project will help us make an informed decision on making an even greater impact in our community.โ

“What I learned: During my time volunteering with Compass Pro Bono, I gained valuable insights into new business frameworks and theories related to fundraising, marketing, and business operations. This experience not only enhanced my project management and business analyst skillset but also allowed me to develop my skills in speaking, business case preparation, and presentation delivery for senior executive audiences. Additionally, I acquired new consulting skills, focusing on understanding complex business challenges and thinking creatively to solve them. Working closely with executives and board members of various organizations provided me with invaluable experience and a deeper understanding of nonprofit operations and strategy. Why would I recommend: Strengthen Your Skills by engaging in real-world consulting projects that allow you to apply and enhance your existing professional expertise. Additionally, youโll have the opportunity to learn new skills that complement your current skillset. Volunteering with Compass Pro Bono provides an excellent networking platform. Youโll collaborate with other professionals and build connections with fellow volunteers and nonprofit executives. These relationships can be valuable for future career opportunities and collaborations. Compass Pro Bono not only allowed me to give back to the community but also enriched my professional journey by fostering skill development and meaningful connections.“
Eric Zelinski
“The energy, attention, investment, and expertise the Compass team brought to our project was staggering and impressive. These passionate volunteers offered us the invaluable opportunity to see our organization from a distance to assess strengths and weaknesses, and clear pathways to address areas of growth. They were also the most enthusiastic and supportive audience members when they came to our events. We feel like we gained not simply consulting services, but excited advocates who can uplift our work in their own communities.“
Elizabeth Dinkova
โThe team did an amazing job. They went above and beyond in the depth and preparation of this project. They listened to feedback, were eager to learn, and were deeply interested in ensuring that the finished product would be utilized and effective.โ
Sarah Gibbons
โWorking with Compass will add value to our organization now and in years to come. We were fortunate to have such qualified and intelligent folks to work with and who cared enough to be connected to the mission of Bringing Hope Home. We’re very grateful.โ

โWorking with a Compass team on Technology Strategies has been a game changer for our non-profit. We all know to ask questions and listen to people who have expertise in the areas of interest. That’s just what we did. The team had ideas that never dawned on any of us on the staff or Board as to ways to streamline processes to be as efficient as possible. Utilizing technology to enhance the client satisfaction is such a wonderful way for us to continue serving our clients personally but with the edge of new technology implementations to make it easier and quicker.โ
Cindy Wedholm
“The Compass team is built with experienced volunteers to support your organization’s success and will leave you in a better place than where you started.“
Kowshara Thomas
“I found my experience with Compass to be extremely valuable. First and foremost, I was grateful to work with a terrific team of people and feel that the work we did will truly help our client. Also, it was a nice opportunity to work on my leadership skills in a safe and supported environment. I say this because Compass provides a solid platform for doing the work including resources, advisors and more; then, you get to go out and create with the benefit of professional support behind you. I’d highly recommend volunteering with Compass“
Robert Grabel
โCompass is incomparable in its ability to offer hundreds of hours of analysis and support providing an honest and unbiased analysis of a business. Our organization would have never been able to afford this kind of research. The advice provided from a third party inspired and motivated the whole organization to embrace positive change.โ
Peter Stark
โThe Compass team was so incredibly genuine – they not only were committed to the work, they were truly interested and seemed to be having such fun helping us. They were an incredible bunch of people and each brought a different skill set to the project. It was an incredible experience.โ
Beth Devine
“As the Executive Director of a small nonprofit, we don’t have the resources to engage external consultants and we had a long list of dream projects and priorities that were on the backburner. When the Compass opportunity came along, it was a win-win.“
Anne Leland Clark

“Compass Pro Bono’s model of engaging professionals across a spectrum of careers to provide nonprofits with high quality strategic direction is as brilliant as it is engaging. The team model ensures that nonprofit leaders, many of whom are strapped for time and resources, receive well balanced input on some of their most pressing needs. The consulting professionals not only share their skills and insights, but learn from the nonprofit leaders and each other, instilling an appreciation across sectors and professions.“
Peggy Prevoznik Heins
โThis is one of the greatest donations we have ever received! Our team took the time to really understand our organization. They visited and helped out during our busiest times, checked in frequently, and supported us in more ways than we could have hoped. At Neighbors Helping Neighbors on the Main Line, we feel like a stronger nonprofit, thanks to the support of Compass!โ
Muneera Walker
“Volunteering with Compass is a perfect way to use your professional skills to help out local non-profits – I would recommend it to anyone who is trying to find a way to contribute to their community!“
Stephanie Prevost
“Our Compass team has provided my organization with invaluable, focused insights that I am confident will guide us to greater success in our marketing as we move forward. They were professionals and just great people and I am grateful for the experience of working with them.“
Emily Morrison
โThe final product was exactly what was requested and what we needed. In addition to providing the information that we asked for, which was to synthesize stakeholder input on our program services, it also created a more engaged dialogue from my board members than we have had at a meeting in a long time. My group is now energized and ready to move on to our next action steps.โ
Sherry Hoban
“This was my first experience with skills-based consulting but it will not be my last. I loved being able to make big contributions in a short time, and felt connected to my non-profit client’s mission very quickly.“
Grace Hinton
“The Compass team provided invaluable assistance to our strategic planning process. Their โheavy liftโ allowed our staff to focus on our mission. I would not hesitate to recommend their engagement to my colleagues.“
Versell Smith, Jr.
โEngaging with Compass allowed us to see our organization from an outsider’s perspective. As a small-but-growing nonprofit, we are grateful that the team was able to analyze our current state and make recommendations for future growth.โ
Andrea Vettori
“Compass Pro Bono is the perfect way to provide an impact on your community by helping local non-profit organizations grow and succeed. One also has the opportunity to network and build lasting connections centering around helping others, no better way to form a relationship. Thank you, Compass Pro Bono, for your work to make the world better, one community at a time.“
Trey Lachicotte
“Compass recruited a highly qualified and engaged team to work with us. We really felt they believed in our mission and were earnest in their engagement. We presented a tough and ambiguous objective: to help us re-design our strategy and key performance metrics. They jumped in head-first, learning all about our programs, mission, and Board members. They asked probing questions and convened meetings that helped us get down to our core competency: Digital equity through device access and training/support programs customized for client communities and their geographies. Rather than “holding on” to programs or “Pillars” as we called them, our new strategy allows programs to grow and decline organically as the needs of the communities and geographies we serve change as well as the funding available. But all programs cross-cut device access / a specific community / specific geography.“
Louis August
“Compass Pro Bono ties me to the community via pathways I might not have otherwise explored nor even encountered. With these projects, I am able to tie my consulting/business experience to my voluntarism, while practicing and honing a variety of skillsets. The satisfaction of helping those who are helping others is invaluable, and I look forward to serving Philadelphia through Compass on more engagements.“
Adrienne Taylor
“Our Compass volunteers brought incredible skills and knowledge to a key research project we have been eager to explore for some time. Through the work of these amazing pro bono consultants, we were able to conduct a market analysis of a major growth area for our organization and build an implementation plan that our board and staff can put into action!”
Sara Dziuk
“It was a wonderful leadership experience that connected me to the Greater Philadelphia community and local professionals. Moreover, the project was personally fulfilling and provided me with the opportunity to put my strategic marketing and communication skills to use for an organization that combats violence and poverty in an underserved community. I would recommend Compass to anyone looking for a chance to do great work and meet other professionals.“
Adam Estabrook
“The Compass Pro Bono project introduced me to an organization, and frankly an entire arts scene, that I was completely unaware of. I value the experience that I got working with other professionals from outside my company, with different backgrounds and expertise, to collectively assist this great organization, hopefully to their long-term benefit. I look forward to following Inis Nua and Tiny Dynamite to see where they go from here.“

“We were so fortunate to have the time and talents of a Compass team on our project this year. The whole experience was so well thought through, from the vetting of our proposal to the onboarding and orientation to the aligning of the scope of work. Most importantly, the team led by Cliff was thoughtful, strategic, and incredibly thorough in their work. Their deep care for our School’s mission and this project showed, and they have produced a report, recommendations, and resources that are more than we all could have expected or imagined. I cannot recommend CompassPro Bono highly enough. Thank you!“
Allison Kokkoros
“Compass Pro Bono does a great job in matching business professionals with inspiring non-profit organizations that recognize potential areas for improvement. I have been fortunate to lead two fantastic teams in providing impactful recommendations (and even some implementation support), enabling our clients to deliver their services more efficiently.“
Jenna McNeill
“Compass Pro Bono is an incredible opportunity to improve your technical skillsets while also building strong relationships within the community and giving back. Definitely recommend it to others!“
